The life of a vehicle is often determined by its key component - the engine. The engine is like the "heart" part of the human body, and a good filter is like the "kidney" part that excretes toxins from the body. During the operation of the diesel engine, the impurities deposited in the fuel system and the dust suspended in the air will pollute the diesel and affect the quality of the diesel itself. Therefore, the fuel filter on the car is essential. Most diesel engines use a high pressure common rail fuel system. In order to ensure high-pressure injection, the system needs to precisely control injection pressure, injection flow rate and injection time. Its accessories are very delicate in workmanship, so it has higher requirements for diesel quality, especially the control of diesel cleanliness is quite strict. If there is unfiltered moisture or impurities in the diesel, long-term use will cause damage to the high-pressure pump of the injector. Impurities that have not been filtered out will directly cause wear of the parts inside the injector, and damage to the injector will cause problems such as unstable engine operation, reduced power, and increased fuel consumption, which will affect the normal operation of the injector. In addition, if the fuel with high water content enters the engine, it will reduce its combustion efficiency and cause the engine to accelerate poorly. However, if low-quality diesel oil is added, its sulfur content is high, and it is easy to react with water to form sulfuric acid during combustion, which will gradually corrode engine parts and reduce the service life of the truck. At the same time, the components of the high pressure common rail system are very expensive. If the electronically controlled injector is damaged, the repair cost is quite high. In contrast, the price of the filter is much more moderate, and the price is the second, mainly to ensure that the performance of the truck is intact, prolong the service life of the vehicle, reduce maintenance costs, and save worry and effort.

The engine needs to inhale a large amount of air during operation. If the air is not filtered, the dust suspended in the air will be sucked into the cylinder, which will accelerate the wear of the piston group and the cylinder, and larger particles will enter between the piston and the cylinder. It will cause serious "squeezing" phenomenon, especially in dry and sandy working environment. The air filter is installed in front of the carburetor or the intake pipe to filter the dust and sand in the air to ensure sufficient and clean air entering the cylinder.

Among the thousands of parts of the car, the air filter is a very inconspicuous part, because it is not directly related to the technical performance of the car, but in the actual use of the car, the air filter is (especially the engine) ) have a great influence on the service life. On the one hand, if the air filter has no filtering effect, the engine will inhale a large amount of air containing dust and particles, causing serious wear and tear on the engine cylinder; on the other hand, if the air filter is not maintained for a long time during use, the filter element of the vacuum cleaner will It will be full of dust in the air, which will not only reduce the filtering ability, but also hinder the air circulation, resulting in too rich mixture and abnormal engine operation. Therefore, regular maintenance of air filters is essential.

The air filter is the engine's gas mask. It can filter out most of the impurities in the air and provide clean air for the engine. Therefore, its effect is very large. In daily use, it must be cleaned frequently and replaced in time. , to ensure that the engine takes in clean air

When the engine is working, it is divided into four strokes, one of which is the intake stroke. During this stroke, the engine piston descends, creating a vacuum in the intake manifold, which draws air into the engine's combustion chamber where it mixes with gasoline for combustion.

So, can the air around us be directly supplied to the engine? The answer is no. We know that the engine is a very precise mechanical product, and the cleanliness of raw materials is very strict. The air contains a certain amount of impurities, which will cause damage to the engine, so the air must be filtered. Before entering the engine, the air must be filtered. This device is the air filter, commonly known as the air filter.

An engine needs two raw materials to work: gasoline and air. Gasoline is purchased by us, added to the fuel tank of the car, filtered through the oil supply system, and then sent to the combustion chamber of the engine to mix with air for combustion. And the air does not need to be purchased, just take it directly. How does the air enter the engine? Still need to filter?

Automotive mechanical filters are also called "oil filters". The function of the mechanical filter is to filter the impurities in the oil flowing in the lubrication system. After the engine has been running for a period of time, some impurities will be produced.

These impurities are mainly divided into two categories: one is metal debris worn by engine parts during operation; the other is black muddy organic matter (carbon deposits) produced by chemical changes in engine oil at high temperatures during engine operation. ). ). These impurities get mixed into the engine oil and move with the engine oil in the lubrication system.

So, must the oil filter be replaced at the same time as the oil maintenance?

Yes, it must be replaced. If the engine filter is not replaced, about 25% of the contaminants in the old engine filter will re-enter the oil circulation, which will not only increase the chance of engine wear, but also reduce the performance of the new oil. Therefore, when changing the engine oil, the filter must be replaced, which is also beneficial to prolong the service life of the engine.

Since the filter needs to be replaced every maintenance, is it possible not to change the oil?

No, the oil will lose its original performance after being used for a long time. When the oil is lubricated, it acts as a cooling agent. In fact, to put it simply, the oil filter can only filter out the metal debris mixed in the oil, and it is useless to the dust inside! Therefore, we need to change the oil filter regularly, and also need to change the oil according to the maintenance manual!

Every time the car is serviced, the little tin can on the car has to be unscrewed and replaced. This is our oil filter, which is replaced with the oil.

So here comes the question, how often does this oil filter usually need to be changed every kilometer? What is its longest lifespan? How long is its replacement cycle?

Before we understand this problem, let's take a look at this oil filter.

Our current oil filters are basically this spin-on oil filter. The outside is a round tin box, and the inside is folded filter paper. This filter paper is the core material of our machine filters. The current machine filter paper is heat-cured, so it has a certain hardness and strength. Unlike our ordinary paper, it can withstand oil pressure and is not easily deformed.

This oil filter is screwed into the middle part of the oil circuit. The bottom is the oil pan and the top is the engine. Its main function is to filter impurities and dirt in the oil, provide clean lubricating oil for the engine, reduce wear and prolong the service life of the engine.

Here's how it works. It has an oil inlet and an oil outlet. The oil in the oil sump flows into the filter from the oil inlet check valve. The dirty oil that flows in is on the edge of the filter, on the outside of the filter paper, and then filtered through the filter paper, and the clean oil flows out from the center of the filter and is sprayed to various parts of the engine.

This is the normal working process, but there will be some special cases. For example, our machine filter has been used for a long time, and the filter paper of the machine filter has too many impurities, which will block the pores of the filter paper and cause oil to flow out. If the amount is reduced, less oil will enter the engine, which will affect the lubrication and operation of the engine. what do I do?

In fact, at this time, in order to ensure the amount of oil flowing into the engine and maintain the oil pressure, there is a spring valve at the bottom of the oil filter, called a bypass valve, which will automatically open to allow unfiltered oil to flow out from the bottom valve. Go in, join with the oil in the center of the filter, and flow into the engine together, but at this time the mixed oil is oil with impurities.

How long do machine filters last?

In fact, the quality of our machine filter is not a problem, and the filter paper will not be deformed due to oil pressure and soaking in a short period of time.

However, the service life of the machine filter is mainly judged by its filtering ability, not its own quality. As we mentioned just now, if there are too many impurities and grease in the engine oil, it will adhere to the filter paper and block the filter holes, resulting in low oil pressure, so that the impurity oil directly enters the engine. This is equivalent to the fact that the oil has not been filtered. In fact, it is time to change the filter element at this time.

Therefore, the replacement of the machine filter depends on the cleanliness of the oil. Let's take an example. For example, we changed the oil and filter. If we ran 5,000 kilometers without changing the oil, we just changed the filter element, but the time to replace the new filter element next time will not reach 5,000. Kilometers, maybe 2000 kilometers, 3000 kilometers will have to be changed, because the old engine oil has more impurities than the new engine oil.

Therefore, in most cases, the oil filter has a service life of 5000 kilometers and is for new oil.
